How did I become a self proclaimed Know-it-all

The earliest I can remember is asking a question and being told "go figure it out". If I needed help spelling a word "go look it up in the dictionary". This pattern continued for many years.

When I got my second real paying job I would ask a question and my supervisor would say " I don't know you have to figure that out.". Argh. Nobody would ever give me answers to questions and I was forced to have to figure everything out by myself. Which I eventually did. However, during the process I would learn about other things and since I have such a good memory I would rarely forget everything I just learned.

Confessions of a Self Prclaimed Know-it-All

I guess I've always considered myself a know it all. I rarely accept advice from others and tend to shy away from doing what everybody else thinks is cool.

Recently I've found myself shying away from people. Ok truthfully ducking, dodging, and hiding from people. Why? Well because somebody will make small talk with me and then they say one thing and suddenly solving their problem becomes my new mission for the week.

I guess the only reason why I continue is because of my successful track record, but boy is it exhausting.
