Step 2- We cannot have effective prayer unless we come through Jesus
Foundation Scriptures
John 14:6
Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
Matthew 6:5-8
"And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by men. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full. But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.
*Although most people acknowledge Matthew 6:9 as “The Lord’s Prayer”. This prayer was meant for the disciples. You notice Jesus used words like deliver us from the evil one. Revelations 1:18, tells us that Jesus already defeated Satan. Therefore, we must remember that Jesus has already delivered us from the evil one, so we can conclude that this prayer was not meant for us. It is an outline of how to pray.
Prayer
Father, I thank you that you have sent your son Jesus Christ to us so that we may have access to you. I will bring my prayers to you through Christ Jesus because I understand that He is the way the light and the truth.
